Who was Tom N.

It was one of those strange coincidences of life when The Kid met Tom N. The Kid went off to IBM School in the big city and in the class was a boy from New Jersey named Tom. Two small town kids from many miles apart, the same age and exploring a new world called TAB programming and operation.

That alone may have been enough to form a bond of friendship, but oddly both had a desire to become cartoonist and both were studying art through correspondence schools.

The Kid was still enrolled in Art Instruction, Inc. and Tom was doing his learning with the big rival, Famous Artists Schools. While Art Instruction had Charles Schulz as their lead attraction, Famous Artist School rolled out Norman Rockwell.

Tom and The Kid spent a lot of time together over that summer. But life takes us down the paths we go and contact was lost many moons ago.

I wonder if Tom ever made it as a cartoonist?
